Had a wonderful arvo on 1 Aug 2010. Pop & Heather were great, Pop with his commentary (he has a wealth of information) and entertainment and Heather too in retrieving a five-dollar note that she lost overboard. Truly a great experience and a MUST event to take visitors.

A delightful experience with excellent service and sights. Pop’s commentary on the history of the area’s settlement was most interesting and his descriptions of the birdlife and trees etc were very informative. We had no idea what to expect on this cruise and were very pleased with the experience.

A must do experience to do when in townsville regardless of whether a local or visitor. It’s worth doing to see the bird life on the dam or to learn about the history of the area itself

I am a regular customer of this business. I love the relaxed atmosphere of the launch trip on the dam and watching the plentiful bird life. The commentary is excellent, by somebody who knows the area well, and the cheerful demeanor of the staff makes the four hour trip a pleasure.

I have lived in Townsville for twenty-eight years and I have never experienced The Ross River Dam like that. You have to take the tour to understand. The cruise was filled with information on the local history of the Dam and there was so many different species of wild life It was wonderful. I will be going again soon. Aliceson.

We have been a few times on the cruises on Lake Ross and up the Ross River. The scenery in the Ross River is quite spectacular and the wildlife is a delight to see. I can’t think of anywhere else that you could get a two and a half hour cruise for less than thirty dollars. Pop and Heather really make you feel part of the “family”

Pop and Heather were fantastic, entertaining, informative (having just arrived in Townsville we learnt a lot) and approachable during the whole trip, we all loved the wildlife, the old school bus, the available refreshments down to the ‘boot scooting’ dancing. We are looking forward to doing a sunset / BBQ cruise and the upcoming 4WD tours.

Thank you – the ‘cashless’ kiwis

This cruise is relaxing, entertaining, informative, I will do it again. The three hours was just the right amount of time for this cruise even though you get to the end and think you would like to go around again. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The scenery and the wild life are beautiful , I learned things about Townsville I had never heard before and I am Townsville born and raised. A definite must do again

The Ross River Dam Cruise was a great expereience. Pop and Heather were very friendly, courteous and informative. This cruise was great value for money, a nice, relaxing yet informative 2 1/2 hours, but mostly surprising. A must do in Townsville. And Pop’s sing along and Heather’s line dancing was unbeatable. Thanks for a great morning.

A big thank you to Heather and Pop for a most enjoyable and relaxing sunset cruise up the Ross River and other tributaries that drain into Lake Ross.  This is an area that is not open to the general public and the scenery and bird life is spectacular.
A lot of interesting historical information was imparted by Pop and entertainment provided on the return trip.  Heather provided us with the nibbles and refreshments.
The trip was accessible for those with mobility issues.
We can highly recommend it for both locals and tourists.

Our cruise with Pop Sullivan Cruises [Group of five (5) adults] was agreed by us all to be a most enjoyable couple of hours cruising on Ross River Dam “Sunset Cruise”. The size and bird life was far beyond our expectations. All on board were most receptive and appreciative of the cruise etc etc. The singing of Pop on the way back to the mooring was most fitting and a great finale to a great experience. Even the young took part with three (3) Ballet Dancers demonstrating their Ballet prowess.

As locals, we will do a MacArthur sooner than later ” WE WILL RETURN “…

Thanks Pop and Heather… WELL DONE!

The sunset cruise showed off the beautiful evening colours of the bush and dramatic features of surrounding mountains. Lots of wildlife, friendly company, and the captain sang a few good songs on the way home

Such a pleasurable afternoon on the water in beautiful, warm and sunny north Queensland. Having a few social drinks with friends whilst learning of the history involved with the Dam.

Pop and Heather are true entertainers!!!

 5th July 2011 9:54 am

Very enjoyable and informative, Pop Sullivan knows his history of the area with a passion. Boat trip very enjoyable. Heather was very helpful and funny, a great couple.

There is a lot of bird life on Ross River dam, and on the rivers and creeks feeding the dam. Worth viewing especially for keen bird watchers.

I would not have known about cruise if it wasn’t for a local. Thank you

Marie.

A sweet little two and a half hours. Entertaining and educational. Would recommend it highly to anyone. The hosts, Michael and Heather, are delightful and most professional in that North-Queensland way. Thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. I went there to photograph the bird life and get a bit of local history. Came way well satisfied.

A very relaxing, friendly cruise. Pop and Heather were helpful, informative, welcoming and a great laugh was had by all. The cruise explored the river system back of the Ross River Dam and the stop off at the old Cobb and Co crossing was interesting. Pop is a very good, entertaining singer as well. We had a ball and heartilly recommendend as a value for money outing

This is a great value trip and wonderful experience on Ross Dam. Pop ensures everyone has a good time. He shares his knowledge of the history of the area and we see lots of birdlife. I have been on the musical tours and other day trips with Pop and his wife Heather and have thoroughly enjoyed my outings. I would highly recommend their cruises.

Great day enjoyed by myself & Wife Janet.Only improvement would be to provide a self serve “No frills ” afternoon tea to round the cost to $30 pp.As the wind was cool & moderate, spray was blowing onto us & this could be solved by adding clear plastic blinds.Suggest a lttle more mention of bird varietys etc. GoodLuck. you can’t fail.

Bloody fantastic. I didn’t think it would be so good. It was very informative. Are there any more places/trips around Townsville?

This cruise was very relaxing and most informative. It is always good to be able to hear how places start and you do it very well. Thank you.

The ladies from Willows Presbyterian Church, all enjoyed their day out. And I for one will be passing the word around and returning for another visit at Christmas when my family come to visit, the singing was great thanks Pop, regards Gail Pike
This cruise was recommended to us by my mother-in-law so you can imagine what I thought it may be like before we set off!!! To my surprise, not only was it a wonderful afternoon but it far exceeded my expectations. Our hosts were friendly and knowledgeable and we felt relaxed from the moment we went aboard. The dam and creeks were scenic delights and we saw plenty of native wildlife. The stop to view the old coach road and information signs (make sure you read the very funny Cobb and Co coach rules) and the 360 degree tour of the surrounding landmarks were highlights. My young daughter enjoyed herself immensely, getting a chance to steer the boat and dancing to the Aussie bush music and family favourites as we cruised the waterways.

All in all, a wonderful experience and we shall be back to experience the sunset cruise which we understand takes a different route.

Well done to our hosts!

As a family we took the opportunity to take the cruise. What a great time, the kids were entertained as were we, plus a chance to sit in the Captain’s seat an added bonus!

A trip down a watery memory lane. Took some great pictures and it was good to see the old photo’s of Cobb and Co coaches and the old Hotel. Well done, we’ll come again. Service and quality two prime features.
