    • Let me introduce myself.  I’m Michael (aka Pop) Sullivan.

    With my wife, Heather, we have created this website to tell you about Townsville and surrounds – our home and our favourite part of the world.

    We  are the  proud owners of  the Ross River Dam cruise boat the “Kathleen Mary”  which recently won the national Hidden Jewel of Australia  Award.

    This fantastic cruise has been voted as a must do in Townsville bylocals and visitors alike. We also organise bus tours for seniors around North Queensland and throughout Australia.

    Let me tell you how all this started.

    First I trained as an A-grade mechanic and diesel fitter and ran my own service station  and bulk fuel outlet in Greenvale North Queensland for seven years 1973>1980. At the peak I had established a customer base of 76 cattle stations, & 2 tin mines, (about the size of VIC ) During those years I was acknowledged for outstanding sales and won a trip to Hawaii from the Shell Company, Later I started driving interstate coaches for Deluxe and Greyhound. Ten years down the track I decided to run my own Australia-wide touring business, which I have been doing successfully for 16 years.

    In 2005 I negotiated the exclusive rights to operate boat cruises on the Ross River Dam, while continuing to operate land tours throughout Australia.

    All this touring aside, I’m a keen musican.  I started with the Trumpet at 15 years old.

    Since then I have played in many bands, including the Victorian Police Brass Band for seven years.

    I have spent many a year in rock and country music bands, and now have four CDs for sale featuring my brass and song.

    I  have a Coxwain Ticket, a Senior Advanced First Aid certificate, I’m a public licencee and a Queensland Justice of the Peace.
